A New Start, A New Page

Somehow last week I was able to add a new post to our old blog, Dora's Way. I am not sure how it happened, or why it is that now I cannot add another post. I simply could not find a way to add a new post to the old blog site. So, I created a new site, and here goes another try at re-starting our travelogue.

Week 1 saw us leaving St. Louis onNovember 24 and traveling as far as Rusty's RV Park near Rodeo, New Mexico. One week later, on Sunday, December 1, we arrived at our winter destination: Desert Trails RV Park outside of Tucson, Arizona.

It turns out that the rain, wind and cool weather we experienced in Kansas and New Mexico, were very similar to weather conditions here in Tucson. Some people had already arrived at the park in late October through November. There were a record number of people at the park's Thanksgiving meal, so much so that they overflowed into a second building.

We have been quite happy to re-visit the desert trails that lead away from the park and through the desert in many directions. We followed the one that is our current favorite: one that doesn't have any steep gullies - just nice and flat for the most part. A round-trip on this trail takes about an hour, and we cruise past the various cacti in this are: saguaros, chollas, and prickly pears, as well as creosote bushes and the occasional palo verde tree.

Both of us enjoyed an afternoon with the ceramics club. Ron started on a cute, small house, and Mari made a turtle. The club only makes hand-built ceramic items, as they do not own a pottery wheel. They obtain clay, glazes, and other supplies from a place in Tucson called Marjon, which Mari plans to visit tomorrow. Marjon also does the kiln firing for the club.

Ron will travel back to Macomb tomorrow to officiate at the funeral for a family friend whose daughter grew up with his daughter, and the girls have remained close friends over the years.

We will have more news soon - keep your fingers crossed that the blog remains available so we don't have to change the URL address any time soon.
